LIST OF FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS........... NB: Before attempting any modifications to an SD card...Please make a backup folder on your PC.... Something like this.... Drive C: Local drive: GoTomTom: (or whatever you wish to call it) 128MB card: (or whatever you wish to call it) 256MB card: (or whatever you wish to call it) 512MB card: (or whatever you wish to call it) etc. etc.etc. DO NOT RELY ON THE TOMTOM's EXISTING BACKUP FACILITY...IT DOES NOT SAVE EVERYTHING..... Then COPY the ENTIRE contents of EACH card you create into its own folder as a BACKUP... ####################################################################################### Q1: How do I delete unneccessary voices from TTG? A. The voices supplied with the TTG each have TWO files...For example... Jane: engf.vif and data5.chk Tim : engm.vif and data4.chk All other voices have similar files and can be deleted to free up about 18Mb of memory. However DO NOT DELETE data.chk ...this is NOT A VOICE FILE....... also be careful that you DO NOT DELETE ttgo.bif by mistake...this is NOT A VOICE FILE..... Q2: How do I install a POI group to TTG? A. All POI groups are added in the same manner.... 1. Download the zip file to your PC 2. Unzip the file... 3. Each POI group will consist of TWO FILES.... an xxxx.ov2 file and a xxxx.bmp file BOTH must be named EXACTLY the same for example ( mypubs.ov2 and mypubs.bmp) ...or it will not work 4. Copy both files into the relevant MAP FOLDER on the TTG ....of course ALL POI's may be copied to the MRE (Major Routes of Europe) map...because it also contains a simple GB map.....however only UK POI's should be added to GB map... 5. The new POI group will automatically be enabled and ready for use.... If you wish to have a warning associated with a POI group............... 1. Tap main screen..... 2. Tap 'Change Preferences'...... 3. Tap right arrow..... 4. Tap 'Manage POI'....... 5. Tap 'Warn when near POI'....... 6. Select POI group.......... 7. Type distance in yards/metres..... 8. Tap 'Done'....... 9. Select warning sound and tap 'Select'...... 10. Choose whether to recieve warning 'Only on Route or All the time..... 11. Tap 'Done'.............. How do I know whether I have most up-to-date version? A. 1. On the main screen of the TTG.....tap the bottom right corner where the battery and GPS meters are shown.... 2. Your vesion number is now shown just above the 'Done' sign... 3. This should read 'version 4.42' (at the time of writing this).... 4. If this number is any smaller...go to the TTG website and download the most recent version...(free)... 5. Press where it says 'version x.xx' and a new screen will appear 6. This new screen gives various details...including map version... at the time of writing..the GB map should show v3.90 the MRE and Europe maps (if loaded) should show v3.14 if the numbers are any lower...join the great debate for newer.. Q5. What do I do if my TTG locks up? A. 1. Underneath the unit in the front slot there is a reset button.. Use a paperclip (or similar instrument) to GENTLY press it.... 2.
